An Interview with Mr. Milton Olave
Pushing forward past Challenge & Change
To gather a sense of the “day in the life of Milton Olave,” please, tell me a little bit about what your typical daily agenda consists of.
My day starts out with a workout at 7am. I practice the golden rule, “pay yourself first.” Planning is a key part of my success. For this reason, I plan the night before by asking myself questions that prepare me to get https://experience.tripster.ru/tours/russia/kavkazskie_mineralnye_vody/ the most out of the day. Questions such as “what are my highest income producing activities for today? What are my top calls that will advance me both personally and professionally and what are the top 3 personal items I must handle today.” I then move forward with leverage in mind. My day consist of training my teams, setting up presentations to market the 90 Day Body Challenge I run and webinars and sales trainings teleconferences. From winning the inner game (mindset for success) to coaching them on which sales strategies will give them a huge payoff, to effective prospecting techniques, I make sure my team mates have ALL the tools that will make them successful. At the end of the night I usually disconnect and reflect on the day and then usually jump into family activities.
As an individual with numerous achievements, what have you found to be most challenging in general business these days?
People walk around with a conversation of defeat. They let the 95% who are negative, frustrated, and broke affect their overall vision of what is really possible. There is lots of opportunity for the one that thinks opportunity.
When things don’t go the way you expect, how do you remain motivated?
All that I do and that happens to me serves and empowers me. That is my primary belief. So with that belief in place, it is pretty hard to get unmotivated.
What strategies have you found work for you to help in “pushing forward” toward your business goals?
I am not the brightest man on the planet but I will follow a great plan any day of the week. I model successful people in how they talk, plan, implement and then execute. I also read the Bible and resources on success that set me up for success.
How do you “plan ahead” for change or unexpected circumstances?
I take the words of an early mentor, Vaughn Laudenbeck, who at the age of 22 taught me that 25% of your week will be unexpected mishaps and situations that are out of your control that will take you out of your original game plan. Today when one of those things happen (flat tire, etc) I just say “that is part of the 25%.”
As an entrepreneur, an Ambassador with ViSalus Sciences, and a leader, how do you manage the impact of “change” on those you deal with in business and those you manage?
I set expectations, not promises, from the get-go. Then I set out to get into my team’s head and create an atmosphere of massive desire on their part. This creates the much needed commitment on their behalf to now plow through any obstacles and or ill feelings they may encounter in the early stages of their business relationship with me.
Dealing with People “closing the deal”
What could you identify as the top two most important qualities in a job applicant, potential business partner, or client (someone that you must deal with) that you believe would lead to your best possible business outcomes?
I borrow from Warren Buffet when he looks to bring in someone new to one of his companies. He asks himself “Do I like this person? Do I trust this person? And Can this person do the job?”
After working with many business partners, in different capacities, what have you discovered to be the least promising qualities- those that give you a sense that success is not likely?
That success is easy. Success takes work.
You’ve been referred to as a highly motivated individual. What is your secret in motivating others?
Failure, actually, has motivated me the most. I often open up my seminars by telling people that I am not on stage because of my massive successes, rather because of my massive failures. I know what it is to go Bankrupt, lose cars, a home, a significant other all to irresponsibility and lack of focus. At the same time, I know what it is to be on private jets, dine with Billionaires and work with the brightest minds on the planet. That experience I choose to pay it forward to all those willing to improve and create breakthroughs in their lives. Beyond, I know that GOD put me on the planet to share me- That is my purpose.
Leadership
How would you describe yourself as a leader and what traits do you think are necessary for a leader to possess?
You must have a sense of purpose, vision and urgency.
What has been your most challenging leadership decision in the past few years?
Leaving a $750,000 contract on the table in Mexico to work my network marketing business with Visalus Sciences. Glad I made that decision. Leverage is the way to go.
Who has been your biggest influence with regards to leadership? Why?
Andrew Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Anthony Robbins, Randy Gage, Les Brown, and my biggest one by far, Jay Abraham. These folks have sculpted the quality of my thoughts to impact my life forever.
Operationalization (making it happen)
What strategies do you employ to assist you/your senior leadership team in ensuring that your business goals or benchmarks are met?
I implement goal setting and weekly meetings with my teams. Also, I fly into the markets that are moving and provide them with a few days of my knowledge and advice.
What advice could you offer to an entrepreneur that is full of “great ideas,” but has not yet “made it happen?”
Don’t set out to do 3000 things. Instead do 4 things 3000 times. And take massive action and learn to Fail Forward quickly.
What leadership strategies have you found are not successful for you in your line of work? Why?
I have found that being weak and passive never works.
Final Thoughts
What advice you could offer to other leaders and striving entrepreneurs in your community?
The tougher markets get, make sure the more committed you become in creating history. Think commitment.
